CROFTON -- A Crofton
couple were charged Tuesday night with offenses related to two recent
burglaries, according to the Christian County Sheriff's Department.
Vernon Thomas Laroche, 19, of Crofton, was arrested and charged with two
counts each of third-degree burglary and unlawful transaction with a minor. The
charges stem from a June 21 burglary of a custom knife shop on the Old Fruithill
Road and the July 28 burglary of the Fearsville Grocery.
His wife, Christy Laroche, 18, was served with a criminal summons containing
single counts of burglary and unlawful transaction with a minor in connection
with the June 21 incident. A criminal summons is not an arrest.
In the knife shop burglary, $3,630 worth of knives reportedly were taken. In
the grocery burglary, $1,600 worth of cigarettes and $1,400 in cash and checks
were stolen.
