HOUSTON — One of the women charged
in the capital murder of Baytonian Joanna Jenkins testified Tuesday about
serving as a lookout while Lovie Denise Smith and Cynthia Harper stabbed and
beat the security guard to death at their Houston apartment
complex.
Smith, 25, is on trial in the 209th District Court for the
capital murder. If convicted, she will automatically be sentenced to life
imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 30 years.
Harper, 36, whom authorities
believe was discount

capital murder in March and was given a life sentence with the possibility of

Under
questioning by Harris County assistant district attorney Mike Trent, April

testified that the three went to her apartment, where Smith and Harper cleaned

deputy chief medical examiner with the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office,
testified that Jenkins died from multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma to
her head. There were a total of 64 stab wounds on the body, Wolfe testified,
several of which pierced vital organs.
The
